PLASTIC WARRIOR – THE BACKGROUND
- Plastic Warrior was launched in 1985 as a non-profit making newsletter
with the aim of putting plastic soldier collectors in touch with each
other at a time when the established modelling and collecting press
ignored their interests. From the start PW was written by collectors
for collectors and was the first ever publication to seriously cover
soft plastic toy figures.
- In 1986 Plastic Warrior organised the first ever toy soldier show
held outside the USA. This show is still held annually and is the
oldest and longest running toy soldier show in Britain.
- In 1988 Plastic Warrior became the first UK importers of re-moulded
plastic figures, bringing in Dulcop from Italy, Marx from Mexico,
and Oliver from Spain.
- Plastic Warrior is now a glossy magazine published six times per
year, distributed in 30 different countries around the world, also
providing a range of special issues and manufacturers checklists devoted
to plastic toy soldiers and model figures.
